The Magic Flute
20 August 2011Prinz Tamino is rescued from a monster by the three ladies of the Queen of the Night. In return, the Queen calls on Tamino to free her captured daughter Pamina. Tamino sets off, accompanied by the charming but timid birdcatcher, Papageno. He gradually realises that evil is not where he first assumed it to be.
Mozart´s late stage work is a wise fairytale opera and world theatre at the same time. The brilliant combination of tragic opera, magic play and popular theatre breaks the constraints of any particular genre. The Magic Flute, in all sorts of different versions and stagings, has been captivating audiences young and old for over 200 years.
